🎶 Back to life/back to re-al-it-y🎶
This week my jet lag game was stroooong. I came back from our trip with a cold and that, combined with the 13 hour time difference, meant I just couldn’t bounce back as usual (I was pretty much acclimated to Japan within two days).
The upside is meant I had to take it easy this week. I will often come back from a vacation and just hit the ground running, but I’m glad I took a little more time to focus on resting, even if it meant a few changes in plans. Here are the things that helped me get through the week and thus, are what I’m feeling grateful for this week:
I find having a few things to look forward to after a holiday is key to making the week fly by. I had a reunion with my former team on Tuesday and a delightful monthly breakfast with two awesome #girlbosses this morning 🍳 It was so energizing to reconnect and catch up with some of my favourite people.
Soaking in the little moments
Paul and I arrived back in Canada at 11pm on Sunday night. The combination of jet lag, a long flight and finally getting home meant we arrived at our house wide awake (though we knew the fog of sleep wasn’t far behind). I had Monday off and he was working from home that day, so we dumped our bags, made some popcorn, turned on Netflix and watched our favourite travel show, departures (thank you Netflix for bring this back!). It was a simple thing, but it felt like such a treat to stay up late and extend the vacation a little longer, while also inspiring conversations about our next departures.
Basketball Playoff Season
I know I’m writing this fresh off a Raps loss, buuuut as huge basketball fans it’s nice to be back and feel the energy that playoffs bring to Toronto. One night while we were in Japan we really wanted to watch a game and tried our hotel’s “international sports” channel only to be met with… badminton of all things!
